Well New York, this is it. I’m about to head back home where I belong. And yeah, it’s been fun out here—I’ve met some really great people, but it’s time for me to go. I need my family, friends, and support.
I’m headed back where summer runs through October, and the snow melts in a week. Back to where the streets flow with Orange and Black, and you catch that faint “Who~Dey” echo through the breeze no matter where you are. New York has been great, but I don’t really have a desire to stay here forever, and I’m not real sure I’ll ever be back.
I’ve learned a lot about myself and others—like, more than I expected. I’ve made some friends I hope are in my life for a long time, and I’ve lost some that I thought would always be part of my life. Which, okay, there’s a very thin line between love and hate, and we’re all walking a tightrope on a razor’s edge, careful not to slip over. Cool.
I’ve won some, I’ve lost some. I’ve helped pick people up and I’ve brought some down—wait, that sounded a little wild even reading it back. I lived, laughed, and loved with all I got, and still wound up losing in the end. I gave everything I had to someone who couldn’t handle the fire burning inside me. I love hard and live fast, and sometimes I end up crashing in the end. Anyway, no matter what, I never gave up on myself—I stayed true to who I am and what I believe in, and I still have my soul and that burning desire deep inside.
So I’m picking up the pieces of my shattered heart, packing up the car, and heading south. Thank you New York for your hospitality and grace, and for being able to hug a girl real tight and keep her safe while she was falling apart. It’s been wonderful, and I’ll never forget it. Blah blah blah—enough of the mushy stuff.
Yes, I’m leaving. Not exactly sure when yet—I’m still finalizing the plan. In the next few weeks, I know that. Until then, let’s hang out, have a good time, and see what kind of shiy we can stir up. My name is Mandy.
